ZONE POETICA

Most of us, have at one time or the other, lost a loved one, friend or something very dear and precious to us.! This poem was inspired by a scene in a movie, where a little girl recited a poem at funeral, in memory of the departed. and it immediately struck a chord in me! So i give you the servings! i hope you find it engaging as well as comforting!

REMEMBER ME

Remember me as I have gone away
To a silent land
Where you cannot hold my hand
My presence will be with you like time and sand
If you must weep for me, please do not tear a gland

Remember me nesting and resting
In a place so far away
Where tranquility holds sway
A prayer for me I hope you will say
Appreciating the little mercies of each and every day

Remember me but shed no tear
Think of me and live life on a gear
If the memories we shared must not wear
Perform these rites year by year

Remember me but harbor no gloom
Did I speak of a treasure-filled room?
Athletes we are on this life’s race
Therefore head for the finish with panache and grace.

Remember me for my past roles
Itemize places conquered by our soles
If the challenges we faced did not make us cringe like moles
Spread the message to the north and south poles

Remember me, not just because I am no more
But if you do forget me, I will not feel sore
For I understand that living a times might be a bore
One thing I ask: let me remain treasured in your heart’s core.

Remember me and life’s golden rule
We all will have a shot at the stool
Appeasing friends, shunning fools
While mastering all of life’s tools

Remember me and if u can, write a book
We didn’t spoil the broth, though we were many a cook
When swimming in memory waters, please take a hook
You never know what treasures lie in every cranny and nook

Remember me and tell a tale
Which I hope will set many a dream on sail
We must forever remain on hope’s trail
Making better the world and whoever we meet; our prized grail
